European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), the courses of the postgraduate program and the program's Postgraduate Diploma
The postgraduate program "Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation" implements the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), according to the greek law 3374/2005. Credit units express the workload required to complete the objectives of an academic program by each student. The following pages present the study program per semester, as well as a short and a detailed description of the courses. The total credits of the program amount to 120.
Most courses have a theoretical part and practicals either in a laboratory or on a computer. Classes start in October. Students have the option of attending courses in order to accumulate a minimum of 30 ECTS per semester. To obtain the Diploma, a total of one hundred and twenty (120) credits (ECTS) are required: a. sixty (60) ECTS from the attendance and successful examination of the compulsory courses and the optional courses of the first two semesters (30 ECTS at least per semester), b. thirty (30) ECTS in the third semester of studies (which includes the Advanced Exercise in "Research Methodology" with fourteen (14) ECTS) and c. forty (40) ECTS in total for the Diploma dissertation. The minimum requirement for graduation is 120 ECTS credits.
Upon completion of the program, a MSc. Diploma in Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation is awarded by the Department of Biology of NKUA.
